Women of the Bible

This month we are going to shine the light on a few women in the Bible.

• Beginning with Eve-Don't let anyone change or make you question what God has already said.
We don't want to be like Eve in the sense, in Gen. 3 God had already told Adam and Eve what they could and could not do. She allowed Satan to question what God had already told her.
- Stop looking around - It wasn’t until Eve began to look around that she lost focus on what God had already said. The forbidden tree began to look good to her because she didn’t appreciate the things that God had already blessed her with.
- Have a positive influence-Eve didn’t make Adam eat the fruit but she influenced him. Are you using your power of influence to influence people in the positive or negative?

• Sarah-Don’t nag Gen.21:10-12
Women shouldn’t nag their husbands. Sarah told Abraham to get rid of Hagar and Ishmael and then God went and confirmed this with Abraham. God doesn’t need you to nag in order for your husband to listen. Tell your husband and then let God do the rest. How many women would have handled this situation so well? Read the entire story and it will show you that Sarah had the utmost character in order to even tolerate what she did so beautifully.

• Deborah-Judges 4:1-16, was another positive example. She gained respect from both men and women. Deborah was a strong woman who stood by her judgments. Women are often easily persuaded by others like we mentioned above with Eve, but we must be like Deborah and stand firm no matter what else is going on or what anyone says. Deborah was strong and demanded respect. Now with so many women being forced into single parenthood for one reason or another, let’s honor them and give them the respect and honor that they deserve. Don’t forget to honor your mother and any other woman this month. Remember, the woman is a “man’s good thing”.
