“Let Not Your Heart
be Troubled”
Contributor Writer: Dr. Renea Johnson
Wars. Rumors of wars. Threats of terrorism. On one hand, world events continue to unfold almost faster than we can comprehend. On the other hand, those of us who know the Word and have spiritual eyes can clearly see the awesome hand of God moving in the earth. Everything which CAN BE shaken is being shaken.
Trouble is here and as the Bible declares more is on the way. Almost 2000 years ago, Jesus warned us that in this world we would have trouble. Sure enough, for the problems we are facing. The world is looking to psychics, astrologers, scientists, psychologists, and psychiatrists for a remedy. But the fact is we’ve exhausted man’s solutions.
We are entering the day when even those who once scoffed at the gospel will soon realize that the Body of Christ is the only source of light in this dark world. Therefore, it is imperative that the Church, those who believe in the death, burial, resurrection and soon return of Jesus Christ to “let their light so shine” here in this dark and confused world. Is. 60 1-3 says: “Arise, shine, for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: But the Lord shall arise upon thee, and His glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.”
The problem is many believers are not shining the light of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. The world MUST see His glory in our lives! But instead of standing in the power of God, many hearts are failing from fear and troubled by the pressures of the world. Many are pacing the floor and crying, “Oh God, what are we going to do?
Allow me to share with you what you are expected to do. We are to do exactly what Jesus said we should do “IN TIMES LIKE THESE: “LET NOT YOUR HEARTS BE TROUBLED!”
How is that possible you ask? People hurting one another. Wickedness is running rampant. Good people suffering. It seems evil is prevailing. Those were exactly the conditions when Jesus gave the instruction. He was about to be crucified by wicked men. His disciples were about to see everything they had believed in and hoped for appear to crumble before them. They had invested their whole lives in the ministry of Jesus and they were about to see him killed like a common thief. Naturally speaking, their entire world was about to come to an end. That was a dark time, But [If you refuse to fear, you can go through trouble without that trouble getting to or inside you. You can go through it in peace and come out on the other side in TOTAL VIC TORY!] Just like Jesus looked those men straight in the eyes and said “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe also in me.” (John 14:1) Look your situation in the face and say “I refuse to fear. I don’t care how bad things look, I won’t be afraid.
Understand this! When Jesus said don’t let your heart
be troubled, He was not saying stick your head in the sand and pretend like
the trouble isn’t there. He was not telling you to ignore the events
around you No! The secret to maintaining an untroubled heart in the midst
of troubled times is to stand in the midst of the darkness of life and dominate
those storms with faith filled words. I realize you may not feel like you
can do that, but regardless of how you feel, “whatsoever is born of
God overcometh the world, and this is the VICTORY that overcometh the world,
even our faith” (I John 5:4) Faith says “IN TIMES LIKE THESE,MY
HEART WILL NOT BE TROUBLED BECAUSE GOD IS WITH & FOR ME!”
