"You spend too much!”

“You’re too tight with money!”

Contributer Writer: A.Douglas

These accusations are all too familiar. Typically, in a marriage you have one spouse who is the spendthrift; very generous and extravagant; while the other spouse is thrifty; careful and diligent in the use of resources. Obviously there will be conflict. The goal is not to determine whose right, but rather what’s right for the particular family dynamics. If you’re searching for a solution; the first step; is to consider and agree how the family’s finances should be allocated.
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3 (King James Version)
There are a variety of methods and techniques to achieve this goal; however it will take compromise, delayed gratification, and research. Not every method will work for every family. Try one method; try all of them; or a combination of methods. The goal is to find a method that works for your family dynamics.
